This is an exciting career opportunity for a great Cook / Junior Chef to be involved in the launch of a friendly and rewarding daytime Café adjacent to the centre of Reading. This would suit a chef or cook looking for a cafe opportunity whilst achieving a better work/ life balance in the field and would be great for someone who wants to develop their culinary skills in a catering business with an opportunity to develop further within the company. The role would suit someone with culinary experience as you be responsible for all the kitchen side of the business.

Description
Reporting to the Cafe Manager, this is a unique chance to develop and deliver the menu, run the kitchen and assist the Cafe Manager in their duties. The position will have the following key responsibilities:
- Sourcing ingredients and products of the highest quality within budget and locally wherever possible
- Menu development, delivering consistently delicious plates of food, coffee and cakes
- Cost control of all menu items whilst ensuring wastage targets are met
- Training of the entire team in the preparation and serving of the menu
- Ensure excellent customer service is provided
- Coordinate and manage all catering and associated services
- Stock control and ordering of all catering supplies
- Work in a hands on capacity in the Cafe, leading from and running the kitchen
- Developing and maintaining all food safety compliance systems & procedures including food allergens
- Assist the Cafe Manager in all duties and deputise when required
The person will require:
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Strong cooking skills
- Cooking experience in a commercial environment
- A positive personality and outlook to motivate the team
- Willingness to manage and help people with disabilities as needed in a diverse team
- Ability to use basic IT systems
This is a Permanent position working in a team that changes lives, one job at a time
40 hours a week, flexible hours, day time only.
