Commissioners

Not only do we respond to a commissioner’s clear vision of requirements but we can help commissioners to creatively design programs to meet and deliver a top level mission or idea.

WHO WE WORK WITH

We work closely with commissioners to respond to new challenges and demands in a collaborative way keeping them informed of changes in legislation, cost benefit analysis data and initiatives that could benefit them and our mutual client base. Here are some commissioners and organisations we have worked with:
  • 6 local authorities (Royal Borough of Windsor & Maidenhead, Hampshire, Slough, Reading, West Berkshire, Bracknell Forest).
  • Several educational establishments (for example Manor Green School, Brookfields School, Castle Post 16 School, Reading College, Newbury College).
  • National level funders (National Lottery Community Fund, European Social Fund).
  • Smaller funders (Blagrave Trust, Berkeley Homes Foundation).
  • Local projects as part of national initiatives such as Building Better Opportunities.
  • Many local partners such as Get Berkshire Active, Slough Refugee Support, WEA (Workers Educational Association).

OUR MODEL

Ways into Work use the evidence based model of Supported Employment which has been successfully used for decades as a personalised model for supporting people with disabilities and now other barriers, to secure and retain paid employment. The model uses partnership working to enable people with a barrier to achieve sustainable long-term employment, businesses to employ a relatively untapped work force to reap the many rewards that diversity in the workforce brings and commissioners to achieve community goals.

We are extremely proud of the difference we have been able to make in our clients’ lives. 60% of our clients are in work and 88% of those have been retained in work for more than 6 months.

Our Supported Employment model involves time unlimited support, which sounds expensive and can involve significant upfront costs but the brilliant thing is that with an embedded service provision, there is no trade-off between doing the right thing for beneficiaries/communities and saving money. The individual benefits of being in work are clear but there is now growing data supporting the fact that commissioning high quality, outcome-focused supported employment results in significant financial savings to both local authorities and the public purse more generally.

OUR IMPACT

When considering ‘the person’ benefits of work in terms of financial independence are clear, with growing evidence about the impact on physical and mental health and well-being. On a wider scale though there are benefits to businesses, communities and the public purse.
